So many fried egg jellyfish, Phacellophora camtschatica, these days. The way all their different parts move simultaneously is mesmerizing…an underwater meditation. They pulsate to some other worldly rhythm.

My friend and former bull kelp apprentice @liztheriza
in the eerily beautiful and inimitable glow of the kelp forest, conversing with the bull kelp.
Beautiful black nori (Pyropia abbottiae) harvest. Nori’s holdfast is teeny-tiny and doesn’t grip very strongly so a very light touch is needed when harvesting this delicious seaweed. My favourite way to eat it is to toss it in toasted ses
